PC(USA) Religious Housing Faces Challenges

6/7/11

The Presbyterian Student Center Foundation (Pres House) of the University of Wisconsin-Madison is facing daunting economic and political problems. As the only religious housing on campus, Pres House provides 250 beds and uses the proceeds from rent to do ministry and mission work. Although granted tax-exempt status in 2009, it now faces a change in legislation to remove that status, requiring additional taxes of about $200,000 per year to be paid. [PCUSA]
