As the council of the Evangelical (read: Protestant) Church in Germany ended its 5-day visit to Geneva's Ecumenical Center, it engaged representatives from 5 General Secretaries of ecumenical organizations. Among these were the WCRC and two other bodies to which the PC(USA) belongs: the WCC and the ACT Alliance. These leaders discussed issues of partnership in mission work, fostering the visible unity of the church, and the role of the Gospel as the core of ecumenical action. One particularly interesting issue which arose was the celebration of the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther posting the 95 Theses which will take place in 2017. Representatives raised the important concern that the Protestant Reformation is no longer a solely German event, but now belongs to churches worldwide. [WCC]
