After a long fight with the Presbytery of Albany and the Synod of the Northeast, Jermain Memorial Church of Wavervliet, New York will re-open its doors as Jermain Memorial Ecumenical Presbyterian Church. Initially the presbytery had taken control of the property as it closed a number of churches it had deemed under-functioning. Now the property and endowments stand to be given back to the church, which plans to continue holding services as well as offering adult day-care, preschool classes, and a thrift store. [The Layman]
